DREAMS AND LIFE

ABOUT A YEAR AGO I WENT TO A MEMBER OF THE WUSKUSO STAFF AND ASKED IF THE FOLLOWING WRITING BY ANOTHER TRIBAL MEMBER COULD BE PRINTED IN THE WUSKUSO. I WAS REFUSED. NOW THAT I HAVE MY OWN BLOG I WOULD LIKE TO SHARE HER WRITINGS WITH MY READERS.

DREAMS AND LIFE

JANUARY 27, 2006

THIS MORNING WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO WORK I WAS THINKING OUT LOUD ABOUT WHAT IS MISSING IN MOHEGAN. WHAT CAME TO ME IS THE IMPORTANCE OF REMEMBERING OUR CULTURE AND WHERE WE CAME FROM, AND HONORING THE ANCESTORS AND WHAT THEY HAVE LEFT BEHIND. A LARGE BALD EAGLE CAME FROM THE EAST AND FLEW OVER MY HEAD AS I WAS SAYING OUT LOUD THE THOUGHTS THAT WERE GOING THROUGH MY MIND. I TOOK THIS AS A SIGN OF GREAT HOPE THAT THE EAGLE IS STILL HERE IN SPITE OF MAN, AND WE ARE STILL HERE IN SPITE OF OURSELVES. JUST AS THE EAGLE HAS RETURNED, TOGETHER WE CAN RETURN TO A MOHEGAN THAT STILL LIVES IN OUR HEARTS, AND WE CAN GIVE THAT TO OUR CHILDREN SO THEY MAY GIVE IT TO THEIR CHILDREN, AND THAT IS HOW MOHEGAN WILL LIVE ON.

Very well said - minor typo - "THIS MORNING WHILE I WAS DRIVING TO WORK I WAS THINKING OUT LOUD ABOUT WHAT IS MISSING IN HMOHEGAN." Take out the first H in Mohegan. Natinihak
