WHAT HAPPENED?

ON SUNDAY AUGUST 31, 2008 THE TRIBAL ELECTION FOR THE COUNCIL OF ELDERS WAS COMPLETED.

THE FEATHER NEWS AND BROKENWING EDITORIALS HAD THE ELECTION RESULTS UP WITHIN ABOUT A HALF HOUR AFTER THE FINAL RESULTS.

IN THE WUSKUSO DATED SEPTEMBER 3, 2008, THE FINAL RESULTS OF THE COUNCIL OF ELDERS ELECTION WERE LEFT OUT.

HOW DID THIS HAPPEN? HOW CAN TWO WEBSITES GET IT DONE AND THE WUSKUSO DID NOT? PEOPLE OUT OF THE STATE OF CONNECTICUT, AROUND THE COUNTRY DEPEND ON THE WUSKUSO TO KEEP THEM INFORMED. THIS TIME IT DID NOT.

editorial footnote: I RECEIVED AN E-MAIL FROM A MEMBER OF THE ELECTION COMMITTEE, WE WERE TOLD THAT THE WUSKUSO IS PUT TO BED ON FRIDAY AND THAT THE EARLIEST THE WUSKUSO COULD PUT IN THE ELECTION RESULTS WOULD BE SEPTEMBER 10, 2008 ISSUE. I WILL RECEIVE THE NEW WUSKUSO SEPTEMBER 10, 2008 ISSUE ON SEPTEMBE 12, 2008. THIS IS TOTALLY UNACCEPTABLE. THE MOHEGAN PEOPLE WITHOUT COMPUTERS HAVE TO WAIT 12 DAYS TO KNOW THE RESULTS OF AN ELECTION. MAYBE THE WUSKUSO SHOULD BE SENT OUT LATE, IT WOULD STILL BE THERE FASTER THEN THE PRESENT SYSTEM. READERS WHAT DO YOU THINK?

That's what you guys are for...to keep us all updated as soon as it happens. A periodical such as the Wuskuso has print deadlines and other considerations making it nearly impossible to get out immediate news. The Wuskuso is not made for news as it happens. All we can really expect from it is news that happened during the last couple of weeks.

As aggravating as it might be, we have do other ways of letting people know what's going on and they are up and running. I telephoned my kids, Sharon informed her list and Feathernews informed their readers. I think we've got them covered.
