UPDATE ON " ELECTION LAW NEEDS TO BE CHANGED"

THERE WILL BE TWO CASES OF ALLEGED VIOLATIONS OF THE ELECTION ORDINANCE AT A HEARING BEFORE THE ELECTION COMMITTEE ON THURSDAY SEPTEMBER 11, 2008 AT 4:30 P.M.

I WOULD LIKE TO ADDRESS THE SECOND CASE ABOUT THE GOVERNMENT BUILDING BEING CLOSED AT NOON (12:00 P.M.) ON AUGUST 29, 2008. THE CASE SHOULD BE HEARD BY THE ELECTION COMMITTEE. IF THE VOTER DID NOT GET TO PUT HIS BALLOT IN THE BALLOT BOX, HIS RIGHT TO VOTE WAS DENIED.

I HAVE ALREADY STATED IN ANOTHER ARTICLE THAT I DO NOT BELIEVE THAT HIS VOTE WOULD HAVE CHANGED THE RESULT OF THE ELECTION. THE FOURTH PLACE WINNER BEAT THE FIFTH PLACE WINNER BY NINE (9) VOTES AND I FIGURE THE MOST YOU CAN GET IS SIX VOTES IF EVERYONE VOTED FOR THE FIFTH PLACE VOTE GETTER. THE FIFTH PLACE VOTE GETTER STILL LOST.

I BELIEVE THE PLAINTIFF SHOULD TAKE THE MATTER TO THE ETHICS OFFICE. I BELIEVE THAT WHOEVER AUTHORIZED THE CLOSING OF THE BUILDING EARLY IS THE ONE WHO SHOULD BE HELD RESPONSIBLE. EVERYONE INVOLVED SHOULD BE HELD TOTALLY RESPONSIBLE FOR THE VOTE NOT GETTING COUNTED, IF THAT IS INDEED WHAT HAPPENED.

IN MY OPINION, THERE IS NO WAY ON EARTH THAT THE OFFICIALS WHO MADE THIS DECISION, DID NOT KNOW THAT BY CLOSING THE GOVERNMENT BUILDING, THEY WERE DENYING MEMBERS OF THE MOHEGAN TRIBE THE ABILITY TO PUT THEIR BALLOTS INTO THE BALLOT BOX.

CAN YOU IMAGINE WHAT IT FELT LIKE TO LOOK INTO THE LOBBY AND SEE THE BALLOT BOX LOCKED BEHIND THE GLASS ENTRANCE DOORS OF THE GOVERNMENT BUILDING?

MAYBE THE MOHEGAN PEOPLE NEED AN ETHICS INVESTIGATION.
