THE FENCE, THE GOVERNMENT BUILDING AND THE BUS

LAST WEEK A CONTRIBUTING EDITOR AND BROKENWING EDITORIALS WENT TO SHANTOK HEIGHTS APARTMENTS TO LOOK THROUGH THE FENCE AND SEE WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW GOVERNMENT BUILDING.

WE PARKED THE CAR WALKED INTO THE WOODS AND CAME UP ON THE FENCE. WE LOOKED AND SAW HEAVY CONSTRUCTION EQUIPMENT WORKING. WE WALKED ALONG THE FENCE AND CAME BACK OUT AT THE APARTMENT COMPLEX. AFTER LOOKING FROM THE VANTAGE POINT WE WALKED BACK TO THE CAR. WE WALKED ON WHERE GRASS HAD BEEN BUT NOW HAD IMPRESSIONS LEFT BY HEAVY EQUIPMENT.

THAT NIGHT A HOUSING OFFICIAL ASKED NICELY IF WE WOULD PLEASE NOT GO BY THE FENCE AGAIN. I BELIEVE HE SAID IT ENCOURAGED THE CHILDREN TO GO BY THE FENCE WHICH HE FELT WAS DANGEROUS. I SAID COULD WE PARK AND WALK IN THE WOODS AND LOOK THROUGH THE FENCE FROM THERE. HE SAID HE REALLY WISHED WE WOULD NOT.

WE TALKED TO SOME GOVERNMENT OFFICIALS AND THEY SAID IT WAS OKAY WITH THEM IF WE WENT NEAR THE FENCE. WE REALLY WANTED TO CO-OPERATE WITH THE HOUSING OFFICIAL. THAT IS WHEN THE GOVERNMENT OFFICIAL TOLD US SOME GOOD NEWS.

THE GOOD NEWS WAS THAT ON EVERY OTHER THURSDAY AT THREE P.M. A BUS PICKS UP AT THE EAST ENTRANCE OF THE GOVERNMENT BUILDING AND WILL TAKE INTERESTED TRIBAL MEMBERS ON A TOUR OF THE NEW GOVERNMENT BUILDING SITE. THE EAST ENTRANCE IS THE ONE OPPOSITE THE MAIN ENTRANCE. YOU DON"T HAVE TO GIVE ADVANCE NOTICE. JUST SHOW UP AND YOU CAN GO IS WHAT WE WERE TOLD. SEE YOU THERE.

SO THAT IS STORY OF THE FENCE, THE GOVERNMENT BUILDING AND THE BUS.
