9/11/2001

I remember after 9/11/01 how everyone in this country came together and we were all

Americans. Every car had American flags on them. Every home had American flags hanging

outside. There were signs everywhere saying United We Stand. That's how the Mohegan people

should be, a people united. What would other people have thought about this country if we all

started fighting amongst ourselves over who was more American or who was more impacted by

9/11 and who had the most right to claim that they were American instead of standing up

together and saying we are all American? What message would that have sent about Americans?

What message do we want to send about Mohegans? Are we a united tribe or a divided tribe? Do

we stand together when times are tough or turn on each other? Do we claim one is more

Mohegan then another or are we all equals? It's like the saying goes

"United we stand, divided we fail."
