SLOT REVENUES DOWN AGAIN

THE JULY, 2008, THE SLOTS REVENUES COMPARED TO JULY, 2007, FOXWOODS WAS DOWN ABOUT 3 % AND MOHEGAN SUN WAS DOWN ABOUT 14%.

LET US COMPARE THE TWO CASINOS SLOT MACHINE REVENUES FROM AUGUST, 2008 , TO AUGUST, 2007. FOXWOODS INCREASED 1.2%, $842,000.00 TO 72.8 MILLION DOLLARS . IN THE MOHEGAN SUN DECREASED 6 MILLION -7.2% TO 77.5 MILLION DOLLARS.

TOTAL OPERATING SLOT MACHINES WAS 8,259 FOR FOXWOODS, AND 6,143 FOR THE MOHEGAN SUN. AVERAGE DAILY WIN PER UNIT WAS FOR FOXWOODS $284.40 AND FOR THE MOHEGAN SUN $407.18.

THE HOLD (AVERAGE PERCENTAGE OF TOTAL WAGES) FOR FOXWOODS DROPPED FROM 8.53% IN AUGUST, 2007 TO 8.42% THIS YEAR. THE MOHEGAN SUN WENT FROM 8.91% IN 2007 TO 8.18% THIS YEAR.

DESPITE INCREASED COMPETITION, DWINDLING CONSUMER CONFIDENCE, INCREASED ENERGY COST, MITCHELL ETESS, PRESIDENT OF THE MOHEGAN SUN SAID, "YOU KNOW IT WAS BETTER THAN OUR PREVIOUS MONTH."

THE INTERIM PRESIDENT OF FOXWOODS RESORT CASINO, BARRY CREGAN SAID, "I AM PLEASED WITH OUR AUGUST PERFORMANCE OVERALL, ESPECIALLY IN THIS CHALLENGING ECONOMIC CYCLE." HE ATTRIBUTED PART OF THE INCREASE TO SOLD OUT PERFORMANCES AT THE MGM GRAND THEATER.

ONE OF THE THINGS THAT MOHEGAN TRIBAL MEMBERS SHOULD TAKE INTO CONSIDERATION IS THAT THE CASINO OF THE WIND OPENED THE LAST WEEKEND IN AUGUST (LABOR DAY WEEKEND.) LAST YEAR LABOR DAY WEEKEND WAS IN SEPTEMBER. THAT MEANS THAT SEPTEMBER FIGURES MAY ALSO BE DOWN. IT WILL TAKE SOMETIME TO SEE HOW THE CASINO OF THE WIND IS GOING TO EFFECT OUR OVERALL RESULTS.

THE WAY I SEE IT, THE MOHEGAN SUN IS DOING BETTER THAN FOXWOODS. WE NEED TO BE SMARTER AND BETTER THAN THE COMPETITION. HOPEFULLY SEPTEMBER WILL BE BETTER.
