YEARS AGO, THE STATUE OF THE BEAR WITH AN ARROW IN ITS BUTT AND THE LITTLE NATIVE AMERICAN BOY, STOOD BY THE MOHEGAN SUN GASOLINE STATION. AT ONE TIME THE STATUES OF A MOHEGAN FAMILY (FATHER, SON, DAUGHTER AND WOLF) STOOD IN THE CIRCLE IN FRONT OF THE WINTER ENTRANCE TO THE EARTH CASINO. AROUND THE FAMILY STOOD FOUR MOHEGAN CHIEFS.
THE TRIBAL COUNCIL HAD THE BEAR AND CHILD STATUE MOVED TO THE FRONT OF THE MOHEGAN DAY CARE CENTER. TODAY THE STATUES STAND THERE, MINUS THE ARROW THAT WAS IN THE BEAR'S BUTT. THEY SAY THE ARROW HAS BEEN GONE NOW FOR ABOUT TWO YEARS. SO WHERE IS THE ARROW? ARE WE GOING TO REPLACE THE ARROW? DOES ANYONE KNOW? DOES ANYONE CARE?
THE NATIVE AMERICAN FAMILY AND THE FOUR CHIEFS WERE REMOVED BECAUSE OF CONTRACTION ON THE EARTH TOWER (PROJECT HORIZON HOTEL). THE MOHEGAN TRIBAL GAMING AUTHORITY (TRIBAL COUNCIL) ARE STOPPING THE CONSTRUCTION ON THE EARTH TOWER. THE NEW PLAN SUPPOSEDLY CALLS FOR MAKING A BRIDGE TO CONNECT THE WINTER GARAGE TO THE WINTER ENTRANCE.
SO ARE THE CHIEFS AND THE NATIVE FAMILY THEN COMING BACK, AFTER THE BRIDGE IS INSTALLED?
HOPEFULLY THE STATUES WILL COME BACK BY THE WINTER ENTRANCE. MAYBE THE BEAR WILL FIND HIS ARROW. I BELIEVE THESE STATUES ARE SOMETHING OF BEAUTY AND SOMETHING THAT VISITORS TO THE MOHEGAN SUN ENJOY SEEING. BRING BACK THE STATUES.

I wouldnt count on the statues if I was you. Look at the current council they couldnt even give
5 minutes of silence for the passing of Ralph Sturges. I personally would love to see them back in place. I too have noticed the arrow missing from the bears butt. I was wondering if it came off from age or maybe broke off in a storm. Thats something that should be looked at; or possibly even fixed if possible
I do beleive that I read in one of the Wuskuso's that the arrow had been vandalized and there were no plans to replace the arrow......
